STEM: Balloon Rocket
A simple and fun science experiment in Action and Reaction. The force from the air moving in one direction propels the balloon in the other direction, much like a rocket. You will need a balloon, a straw, some string, some tape and two objects of the same height that you can tie a string to (ex. chairs).
STEM: The International Space Station!
This series of videos answers the questions: What is the ISS? What has been done? Living on ISS. What does ISS do? And who’s involved? Click on the link and you will be presented with 5 separate videos that will answer the questions above.
STEM: Planet Song!
Ahem- Please allow the planets to introduce themselves! Click on the link and play the videos about the planets in our solar system.
STEM: Balloon Rocket
Build and launch a rocket in your house. Click on the link and follow the steps to build and test a balloon rocket. Keep track of how you set up the balloon and measure the distance the balloon travels. Make some guesses to what will happen when you change the setup.
Zip It!
Create a zip line that is at least 1 meter in length that can transport a golf ball sized ball from the top of the zip line to a bowl at the end. Click on the link and watch the video. Assemble material (at least 1 meter of string or fishing line, straws, paper clip, pipe cleaners, ping pong ball or item similar size, bowl, etc.). Test and change assembly if needed.
LIVE ROCKET LAUNCH Thursday July 2!
Rocket LAUNCH: Thursday July 2!
Live remote to setup and launch a model rocket. On location at Dyer Park, we will setup and launch a model rocket, explain the forces involved and show how to use trigonometry to calculate how high the rocket traveled.
